Heritage 'PhotoWalks'

'PhotoWalks' - Walking explorations looking at local History & Heritage, Streetscape and Buildings.

Walks are held around Britain's historic towns and cities looking at interesting buildings and streetscape.

The walks are lead by Mike Sleigh a professional photographer with a passion for historic buildings and heritage and over 30 years experience in photography and education.

PhotoWalks are held usually at weekends and also on Wednesdays in Guildford, they can also be run 'on demand' at other times.

Open to all abilities - beginners are welcome but we are also pleased to see the more knowledgeable photographer on our walks. Any type of camera can be used from a compact camera through to a SLR - even film cameras.

Group size is kept small to around 6 people (with a max. of 10).

PhotoWalks usually start at 11am and finish by 1pm (or 2pm in the case of the Guildford walks.) On some days an optional pre-walk gathering in a local cafe or Wetherspoon's is arranged and a mid-walk refreshment stop can be made.

Walks are leisurely and sociable events, we try to make them an enjoyable day out and we don't get too technical.

2 hour walks cost £10.00 and 3 hour £15.00 (price includes walk notes).

We now do GIFT VOUCHERS for PhotoWalks -

a useful gift at £15.00.

“I attended Mike's photography walk around Southwark. I thoroughly enjoyed his easy-going and helpful approach.

His knowledge of photography and eye for finding unusual juxtapositions is very apparent and gave me a new insight into an area I thought I knew well.”

J H wrote of a London PhotoWalk:

"Thank you also for a very enjoyable photo walk on Saturday & for sharing your time, knowledge & interest."

Some reviews from the Hotcourses website:

"Lots of helpful info re photography, advice about composition, about cameras. Small group so lots of time for each of us to ask questions. Stop for a cuppa welcome. Very knowledable about history of local buildings." - Anne

"Taking a stroll through a town I thought I knew, looking at in a different way. Mike made the walk most interesting & has now got me looking at buildings in a way I've never looked at them before." - Gaynor

"This was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about our cameras in a fantastic setting, full of photographic opportunities. Mike is full of knowledge on taking pictures and shares it with you in a clear and non judgemental way. Follow Mike's patient advice and suddenly, you find your pictures improving 10 fold! The only down side was the weather, but we even used the puddles the heavy rain caused to our advantage. We enjoyed it so much we're tempted to do it all over again in the summer." - Nikki
